How Much Does Limb Lengthening Surgery Cost?
“I can’t believe it’s that expensive!?”
This is a very common question…er Statement when it comes to how much leg lengthening surgery costs. There’s no doubting that it has one of the most expensive price tags of cosmetic procedures.
Then when you consider the what’s actually going on it can help justify the sticker shock but still it’s unfortunate so many desire it, yet the cost is a barrier of getting it.
So why is it so expensive? The main reason is because of the high demand for the taller result, the limited amount of clinics that perform the procedure and the opportunity for the surgeons and tech companies set them up optimally to charge more for it.
What is the price range for the surgery. According to the Paley Institute you can look to pay upwards of $100k + in the United States for a bilateral lengthening and for the tibias & femurs to be lengthened within a year of each other it could cost near $300,000!!
Does insurance cover the procedure? If you desire to get taller without having a height imbalance or deformity…unfortunately not as of yet. But is there a solution?
Well, there is one option that Dr. Shahab Mahboubian located in Los Angeles, California mentioned on his Instagram “care credit” stating that it can help financially challenged candidates finance the procedure via a loan. The only caveat being if credit is approved.
My thoughts are that I wish the surgery wasn’t so expensive so more of you who are interested in gaining height could get it done could do just that. But hopes and wishes get us nowhere. Therefore the only way to think about it is as an investment in your future happiness. Even though I had a height imbalance the surgery was the same, rehab the same, the result the same… a taller more confident and happier me. What can you say about your happiness if you were taller this time next year?
